Pasta with Spicy Cheesy Tomato Sauce

This is a basic tomato sauce pasta with a bit of spiciness in the sauce.

Ingredients:
1 jar of marinara sauce (we will upgrade this to something more awesome)
1/2 white or yellow onion
Garlic! I used about 8 cloves
1 jalapeno
Some red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon of butter
3/4 lb pasta (I used whole wheat penne)
Mozzarella Cheese

Instructions:
  1. Fill a large pot with water and set it on high heat.
  2. Peel the onion and chop it into small squares.
  3. Put a medium saucepan over medium heat and throw in the butter. While the butter melts, finish preparing the other ingredients.
  4. Prepare the Garlic.
    1. Crush each one with the flat of your knife
    2. Cut off the bottom part (where the cloves were attached).
    3. Peel off the skin. It should be easy now.
    4. Chop the garlic into medium sized pieces.
  5. Chop the jalapeno into 1/2cm thick slices, then cut each slice into quarters.
  6. When the butter has melted, throw these ingredients into the saucepan.
    • Make sure these things go in before the butter starts to brown.
    • Put the garlic in first, then onions, then jalapenos.
    • Don't forget to stir
  7. Sprinkle on some red pepper flakes. The flavors of this sauce will probably make more sense if you don't go overboard, so I recommend making it only medium spicy.
  8. When the water in the large pot boils, dump in the pasta and stir it around a bit. Set a timer for the amount of time indicated on the pasta container.
  9. When the onions have shrunk (after a few minutes), pour in the marinara sauce and stir.
  10. Chop up the cheese. I used maybe 1/4 of block. Keep stirring the sauce.
  11. Add the cheese to the sauce mixture. Keep stirring.
  12. When the sauce starts to bubble, wait about a minute and then turn to low heat. Keep stirring the whole time.
  13. Drain the pasta when it's done and put some on a plate. Pour sauce over it.
  14. Serving suggestion: Grate some Parmesan cheese over the top.
