Ingredients:
1 jar of marinara sauce (we will upgrade this to something more awesome)
1/2 white or yellow onion
Garlic! I used about 8 cloves
1 jalapeno
Some red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon of butter
3/4 lb pasta (I used whole wheat penne)
Mozzarella Cheese
Instructions:
- Fill a large pot with water and set it on high heat.
- Peel the onion and chop it into small squares.
- Put a medium saucepan over medium heat and throw in the butter. While the butter melts, finish preparing the other ingredients.
- Prepare the Garlic.
- Crush each one with the flat of your knife
- Cut off the bottom part (where the cloves were attached).
- Peel off the skin. It should be easy now.
- Chop the garlic into medium sized pieces.
- Chop the jalapeno into 1/2cm thick slices, then cut each slice into quarters.
- When the butter has melted, throw these ingredients into the saucepan.
- Make sure these things go in before the butter starts to brown.
- Put the garlic in first, then onions, then jalapenos.
- Don't forget to stir
- Sprinkle on some red pepper flakes. The flavors of this sauce will probably make more sense if you don't go overboard, so I recommend making it only medium spicy.
- When the water in the large pot boils, dump in the pasta and stir it around a bit. Set a timer for the amount of time indicated on the pasta container.
- When the onions have shrunk (after a few minutes), pour in the marinara sauce and stir.
- Chop up the cheese. I used maybe 1/4 of block. Keep stirring the sauce.
- Add the cheese to the sauce mixture. Keep stirring.
- When the sauce starts to bubble, wait about a minute and then turn to low heat. Keep stirring the whole time.
- Drain the pasta when it's done and put some on a plate. Pour sauce over it.
- Serving suggestion: Grate some Parmesan cheese over the top.
Obviously, you're supposed to eat it with a spork.
